Image Formats
This can mean either our original image formats or our end product formats. We will start with the former.
Since our collection is actually approaching a quarter of a million images, we have all sorts of original formats. This includes images we have purchased over the years, and their rights. Essentially everything from some archaic negative sizes and glass negatives right through to digital. Of course there is plenty of stuff in between. We are still counting and sorting through our 35mm transparency collection!
As for formats available to end users, again we try and cater to all needs. We generally provide soft copies in the form of jpg files, which seems to be the way everything is moving. A few years ago it was TIFF but the huge file sizes really do create problems. Our internal work is done with PSD files before making a jpg for public release.
